We are looking for a Unix/Linux System Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing our Unix/Linux systems across production, test, and disaster recovery environments. This position is ideal for someone with solid technical skills who enjoys hands-on system administration and is eager to grow their expertise in infrastructure and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Operations
- Perform daily system administration of Sun Solaris and Linux-based servers.
- Apply system upgrades, patches, and security hardening to maintain stability and compliance.
- Manage system passwords, certificates, backups, and monitoring tasks.
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and participate in DR drills.
- Maintain and support UAT environments for testing and project activities.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Incident & Problem Management
- Provide second-level support to resolve incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and assist in implementing preventive measures.
Change & Release Management
- Assist with planning and implementing system changes according to change management procedures.
- Support application deployments and environment readiness.
Configuration & Performance Management
- Maintain accurate system configuration records.
- Monitor system performance and support optimization activities.
Project Support & Process Improvement
- Support infrastructure-related project tasks according to timelines.
- Contribute to improving IT service processes in line with security and compliance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
- Hands-on experience with OS patching, security hardening, and enterprise backup tools.
- Familiarity with SAN storage, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python, or Perl) for automation.
- Knowledge of database administration and data center operations is an advantage.
- Willingness to provide on-call support on a rostered basis and after-hours support for critical changes.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
- Relevant certifications in Unix/Linux system administration are preferred cloud certifications are a plus.
