About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Unit Head to lead our Loan Documentation & Agency Services team at RHB Banking Group. In this role, you will oversee end-to-end documentation and agency functions, ensuring operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with Business Units to support financing activities, manage documentation workflows, and drive continuous improvements across processes, while leading and developing a team of documentation professionals.

What you will be doing

  • Render assistance to the Section Head, Credit Documentation and Agency, in managing day-to-day operations of the Loan Documentation & Agency Services function to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to agreed turnaround times with Business Units
  • Support business growth through the generation of fee income via agency roles such as Facility Agent, Security Agent, and Account Bank
  • Review draft and executed financing documents (e.g. facility agreements, letters of offer, and security documents), and validate documentation against approved terms
  • Perform post-acceptance documentation checks, prepare instructions to lawyers, valuers, and insurers, and ensure proper execution of all required documentation
  • Ensure legal and security documentation is completed, conditions precedent are fulfilled prior to facility activation, and conditions subsequent are effectively monitored
  • Maintain proper custodization of legal and security documents
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Product Managers and Relationship Managers to support business objectives and product launches
  • Lead, train, and supervise junior Documentation Officers to achieve departmental goals
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and turnaround time while reducing operational costs
  • Participate in projects involving workflow design, system enhancements, and process improvements, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Support the development and maintenance of procedures and manuals for Credit Documentation and Agency Services

What we're looking for

  • Diploma or Degree in Banking & Finance or a related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Corporate or Commercial Banking documentation, with exposure to agency roles in a financial institution
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of Documentation Officers
  • Strong knowledge of loan documentation processes, legal and security requirements, and regulatory guidelines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in system projects and participation in UAT is an added advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Able to commence work within short notice
