About the Role
We are looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to support the design and enhancement of digital platforms within a public sector environment. This role focuses on building scalable, user-centred interfaces with strong emphasis on design systems, component standardisation, and detailed documentation to support development teams.
You will work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to deliver consistent, accessible, and technically feasible design solutions across multiple digital products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design intuitive and accessible user interfaces aligned with user needs and system requirements
- Develop and maintain design systems and reusable component libraries to ensure consistency across platforms
- Organise and manage design assets in Figma, ensuring proper version control and documentation
- Produce detailed design documentation including specifications, component guidelines, usage rules, and design rationale
- Define component behaviours, states, variants, and interaction patterns for development reference
- Map user workflows and journeys to identify usability gaps and improvement opportunities
- Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to assess implementation feasibility
- Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate accordingly
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to communicate design intent clearly
- Prepare comprehensive design handoff materials with annotations and interaction details
- Ensure adherence to design standards and accessibility guidelines across all outputs
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and best practices
Requirements
- Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a portfolio demonstrating user-centred design work
- Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout, and design system management
- Solid experience producing clear and structured design documentation
- Strong understanding of design systems and component-based design approaches
- Experience designing workflows, user journeys, and information architecture
- Ability to balance user experience considerations with technical constraints
- Strong attention to visual consistency, accessibility, and responsive design principles
- Comfortable communicating design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Good to Have
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing
- Familiarity with front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience working in agile or cross-functional delivery teams
- Exposure to enterprise or public sector digital products
- Knowledge of service design principles
- Experience using documentation tools such as Confluence or Notion
