This is a front-office, client-centric fiduciary role that demands an expert blend of legal technicality, commercial drive, and risk management. You will act as the principal steward for complex, multi-jurisdictional trust structures for some of the region's most influential families.
This role is based in Hong Kong. The role is open to relocation candidates who are looking to make an international, strategic career move.
Principal Responsibilities: Managing Risk, Driving Growth
- Fiduciary Management: Serve as the designated Trust Advisor for a portfolio of UHNW clients, ensuring all trust structures (including underlying assets like investment portfolios, private equity, and real estate) are legally valid, compliant, and current with the Settlor's objectives.
- Strategic Advisory: Proactively manage and maintain regular contact with all trust parties. Handle complex distribution requirements and lead restructuring exercises necessitated by legal, tax, or personal circumstance changes.
- Commercial Origination: Identify and capitalize on new business and wealth transfer opportunities (including philanthropy, governance, liquidity planning, and probate services) within your existing book of clients.
- Risk & Compliance: Maintain continuous compliance with all relevant policies, cross-border guidelines, and evolving regulatory requirements. Conduct proper due diligence on existing client structures, giving full consideration to reputational, fiduciary, and associated tax/legal risks.
- Investment Acumen: Work closely with stakeholders to monitor the performance of underlying trust assets, providing informed oversight of portfolio and investment management decisions.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
You are a seasoned professional with a minimum of 10 years of specialized experience, possessing both the technical rigour of a compliance expert and the commercial acumen of a top-tier advisor.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Over 12 years experience in trust administration and/or advising on sophisticated trust and wealth solutions for Ultra High Net Worth clients
- Technical Education: Degree holder in Legal or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Professional Credentials (Highly Preferred): Possession of the T.E.P. (Trust and Estate Practitioner) designation is strongly preferred. CPA or Legal (e.g., JD/LLB) qualifications are also highly regarded.
- Commercial & Investment Knowledge: Proven experience in client acquisition, relationship building, and cross-selling. Experience in investment, portfolio management, brokerage, and institutional sales is highly useful.
