The Trader is responsible for sourcing, executing, and optimizing the firm's daily and term funding needs. This role works closely with portfolio managers, operations, and business management teams to ensure efficient financing, effective collateral usage, and strong liquidity management across the firm's fixed-income activities.
Responsibilities
- Source, secure, execute, and optimize daily and term funding to meet the firm's financing requirements.
- Work with portfolio managers to optimize funding cost and tenor in line with portfolio holding periods and strategy needs.
- Monitor and manage collateral eligibility, haircuts, concentration limits, and counterparty exposures.
- Track relevant central bank liquidity operations and assess their impact on funding markets and trading conditions.
- Partner with operations and business management teams to expand business access, capacity, and trading limits.
- Monitor liquidity stress scenarios, including quarter-end periods, rate shocks, and market events, and adjust funding strategy accordingly.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with dealer desks, clearing platforms, and other market counterparties.
- Understand bond relative value and basis trading strategies, including the funding requirements that support them.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of fixed-income financing, and collateral management.
- Knowledge of funding strategy, liquidity risk, and market liquidity dynamics.
- Ability to work collaboratively with trading, portfolio management, operations, and risk stakeholders.
- Strong communication, analytical, and relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with central bank liquidity operations and their implications for funding markets.
- Understanding of bond basis trading and the financing of relative value strategies.
