Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Treasury Operations professional to join our team, focusing on collateral management, margin operations, liquidity optimisation, and internal funding attribution. The role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of derivatives markets and margining frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Margin & Collateral Operations
- Process, validate, and reconcile margin calls with bilateral counterparties, clearing brokers, and prime brokers, including investigation and challenge of margin call discrepancies
- Perform checks for compliance with Uncleared Margin Rules (UMR) and non-regulatory Initial Margin requirements
- Analyse and compare margin methodologies across counterparties, futures exchanges, and clearing houses
- Manage collateral movements, including cash transfers and securities pledging for margin requirements
- Develop a strong understanding of ISDA collateral agreements and margin mechanics
Treasury & Liquidity Management
- Work closely with Group Treasury to optimise firm-wide cash balances and liquidity usage
- Identify opportunities to enhance cash yield and improve interest efficiency
- Analyse cashflow patterns across funds and provide reporting insights to Treasury stakeholders
- Support cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning activities
Internal Funding & Attribution
- Manage monthly margin usage attribution to portfolio managers
- Understand and analyse internal funding charge methodologies and benchmark against market standards
- Handle queries from portfolio managers and provide clear explanations of charge allocations and calculations
Projects & Process Improvement
- Lead and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving operational workflows across margin, treasury, and funding functions
- Participate in system implementation, enhancement, and integration projects
- Drive automation and efficiency improvements in operational processes
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in collateral operations, treasury operations, or middle office within financial services
- Strong understanding of margin concepts, including Initial Margin, Variation Margin, Independent Amount, and UMR
- Good knowledge of ISDA collateral agreements and margining mechanics
- Exposure to multiple asset classes, including FX, equities, rates, credit, commodities, and listed derivatives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ownership, control mindset, and team collaboration skills
- Basic programming skills in VBA or Python are advantageous
- Understanding of valuation and pricing concepts to support variation margin validation is a plus
