Travel Retail - Legal & Risk Management Intern

Based in Singapore, Shiseido Travel Retail is Shiseido's global duty-free business which specializes in accelerating the growth of Shiseido's brands to travellers and includes operations in airports, downtown stores, border shops, airlines, and ferries. Our portfolio includes skincare brands SHISEIDO, Clé de Peau Beauté, IPSA, ANESSA, THE GINZA, Drunk Elephant, and ELIXIR; makeup brand NARS; and fragrance brands narciso rodriguez and ISSEY MIYAKE PARFUMS.

MAIN PURPOSE

We are seeking a motivated Legal & Risk Management Intern with a strong interest in both law and information technology to join our Legal & Risk Management (LRM) team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment, combining legal research with operational and technology-related support.

Working closely with the LRM team, you will gain first-hand experience of the daily tasks and challenges of an APAC in-house commercial legal function. You can expect exposure to a diverse range of learning opportunities, including internal stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.

You will engage in legal research projects, memo drafting and database management, and contribute directly to key topics including multi-jurisdiction data privacy, intellectual property and risk management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in preparing legal documents and memoranda
• Assist in conducting privacy audits, identifying compliance gaps and preparing action plans
• Support preparation of legal and risk management training programmes for internal stakeholders, covering topics such as data protection, anti-competition, code of conduct and ethics
• Contribute to training materials development, including presentations, videos and design updates
• Conduct research and analysis on commercial law, data privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property and risk management topics
• Draft internal newsletters summarising legal and regulatory developments
• Compile and organise the internal risk management reports database
• Maintain and update the LRM intranet and legal know-how database
• Update contract trackers and assist with contract management administration
• Assist with day-to-day ad-hoc administrative tasks as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in law, or law and technology
• Interest in the FMCG, beauty and/or retail sectors
• Good working knowledge of data protection, information security and privacy laws around the region will be a plus
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Sharepoint, Powerpoint)
• Proactive with a high level of initiative
• Ability to multitask and adjust priorities
• A well-rounded team player, collaborative and willing to learn
• Organized and detail oriented
• Experience with video editing software including Canva would be an added advantage
