Our client in the payments space is looking for a Transaction Monitoring Lead to provide second-line oversight and quality assurance for transaction monitoring. This role acts as an escalation point for complex or high-risk cases, ensuring AML/CTF policies are applied consistently and regulatory expectations are met. No direct people management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Escalate and review complex transaction monitoring cases, challenging outcomes where needed
- Ensure L2 decisions by the FCM Manager align with policy and regulatory standards
- Contribute to SOPs, escalation criteria, and investigation best practices
- Provide input on monitoring rules, thresholds, and typologies from a risk perspective
- Identify recurring issues, emerging risks, and process gaps
- Support Compliance, MLRO, and audit teams on reviews and regulatory queries
- Share key findings and guidance to enhance L1 team quality and learning
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field
- 57 years in transaction monitoring, AML, CTF, or financial crime investigations
- Experience with L2 review, quality assurance, or senior investigator roles
- Knowledge of global AML/CTF standards (FATF, MAS) and fintech/payment monitoring tools
- Ability to provide guidance and challenge decisions without formal line management
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
