Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Trade Strategy & Policy Development

  • Support the establishment and execution of trade strategy and policy initiatives.

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and data analysis to identify industry trends, business opportunities, and potential risks in target markets.

  • Analyse trade regulations, tariff structures, market dynamics, and competitor behaviour to support strategic decision-making.

  • Apply advanced analytical modelling techniques to evaluate different trade scenarios and forecast business outcomes.

P&L Management and Performance Analysis

  • Monitor profit and loss performance trends against budget, forecast, and strategic targets.

  • Identify anomalies or deviations in financial performance and investigate underlying causes such as market changes, operational factors, or cost variations.

  • Develop optimization strategies and recommend corrective actions to improve commercial and financial performance.

Operational Monitoring - Vessel Schedule Management

  • Track vessel schedules and identify potential risks of delays or service disruptions.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to implement contingency plans and mitigation measures.

  • Support service reliability and operational efficiency through proactive monitoring.

Budgeting and Financial Reporting Support

  • Assist in budget preparation and planning processes.

  • Analyse financial and operational data to generate meaningful insights and performance narratives.

  • Ensure alignment between qualitative business explanations and quantitative performance metrics.

Corporate Communications and Content Management

  • Maintain and update company website content to ensure accuracy and relevance.

  • Prepare and distribute customer advisories, service alerts, and operational announcements.

  • Support the development and publication of press releases and industry communications.

    Job Requirements

    • Strong quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

    • Excellent research and information synthesis capabilities.

    • Good understanding of international trade regulations, tariffs, and market dynamics.

    • Ability to identify risks and opportunities and propose practical, innovative solutions.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

    • Proactive mindset to drive process optimization and leverage technology in trade management.

    • Ability to analyse trade performance data and support data-driven business improvements.

    • Commitment to teamwork, accountability, and a collaborative working culture.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

    • 3-10 years of experience in liner shipping, with knowledge of intermodal operations and inland facilities preferred.

    • Experience in container line sales or front office commercial functions will be an advantage.
