Trading Operator

Our client is a leading asset-backed commodities trading platform with a strong presence across global energy and chemical markets. As part of its continued expansion in Asia, the company is strengthening its Singapore operations and is seeking a Trading Operator to support front-office trading activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end trade lifecycle, from contract finalisation through cargo delivery and settlement.
• Review and negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and trade documentation.
• Coordinate closely with traders, chartering teams, counterparties, and service providers on voyage planning and cargo movements.
• Monitor operational performance and support the optimisation of deal economics and P&L.
• Oversee post-fixture activities, including vessel operations, laytime calculations, and demurrage claims.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to enhance processes, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen risk controls.
• Act as a key point of contact between internal stakeholders and external counterparties to ensure seamless trade execution.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in oil, energy, or commodities trading operations.
• Strong understanding of physical commodity trade flows, shipping logistics, and trade documentation.
• Familiarity with trade finance concepts, payment mechanisms, and settlement processes.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to understand and influence the profitability of trading activities.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and geographies.
