Job Description

An established global energy trading company is looking for an experienced Cargo Operator to join its Singapore office.

This role is responsible for the end-to-end operational execution of various products cargo trades, ensuring seamless coordination between traders, chartering, terminals, inspectors, and counterparties. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring cargo movements are executed efficiently while managing operational risks in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full operational lifecycle of fuel oil cargo trades, from trade confirmation through cargo delivery and final settlement.
  • Coordinate closely with traders, chartering teams, vessel operators, terminals, agents, inspectors, and counterparties to ensure smooth cargo execution.
  • Handle vessel nominations, scheduling, and monitoring of loading/discharge operations to ensure adherence to contractual timelines.
  • Prepare, review, and manage shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Certificates of Quantity/Quality, cargo manifests, and related documentation.
  • Monitor vessel movements and ensure compliance with laytime provisions and contractual obligations.
  • Investigate and resolve operational discrepancies, demurrage matters, and cargo claims where required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including trading, risk, and finance teams to ensure accurate documentation and timely trade settlement.
  • Maintain close communication with external stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and minimize execution risks.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in fuel oil cargo operations, preferably within an oil trading company, major oil company, or commodity trading environment.
  • Proven experience managing international cargo movements and marine logistics within a trading operations environment.
  • Strong understanding of vessel operations, cargo nominations, laytime management, and shipping documentation.
  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple cargo operations simultaneously in a high-volume, fast-paced trading environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
