Job Summary
Join as a Trading Operations Specialist supporting end-to-end coal import shipment operations for the Power business unit on a six-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Draft purchase and sale contract templates ensuring alignment with charter-party terms to support accurate contractual agreements
- Coordinate shipment execution including stock and laycan planning, shipping advice, insurance declarations, and port-agent appointments to ensure smooth logistics
- Prepare draft Letters of Credit per contractual terms and coordinate issuance with Finance to facilitate timely payments
- Manage shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, analysis, weight, and invoices to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Coordinate vessel nominations, monitor vessel movements, and provide timely updates to buyers to maintain operational transparency
- Prepare, monitor, and verify invoices and supporting documents to ensure accurate payment processing
- Ensure timely and accurate settlement of accounts receivable, freight invoices, laytime, and other payments to maintain financial integrity
- Maintain accurate operational information for reporting and analysis to support decision-making
- Support working-capital and cash-flow planning to optimize financial resources
- Identify and highlight potential commercial and operational risks or exposures to mitigate business impact
- Review procurement and operational processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency
- Build effective working relationships with suppliers, customers, service providers, and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Business or related discipline
- Two to three years of relevant experience in commodity trading or trading operations
- Working knowledge of import and export procedures, Incoterms, and international trade
- Familiarity with shipping documentation, order processing, and procurement practices
- Knowledge of Letters of Credit and trade-finance documentation
- Knowledge of GAFTA requirements is an advantage
- Detail-oriented and organized to manage multiple shipments and deadlines effectively
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Proactive in identifying operational risks and recommending practical solutions
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
