Job Description:
- Physical execution of trades as per terms concluded by the traders.
- Liaison with suppliers, buyers, surveyors, agents on shipment operations (including vessel clearance, documentation instructions, discharge orders, inspection appointments etc.)
- Preparation of contracts and contract countering with suppliers and buyers.
- Liaison with shipping team on vessel related matters.
- Liaison with finance team on LC and payment related matters.
- Updating of shipment details in internal tracking sheets. Preparation of shipments related documents as per trade/customs requirements to facilitate smooth operations of shipments.
- Running laytime calculations after completion of a shipment.
- Ad-hoc claims management and liaison with suppliers and buyers on claims countering and settlement.
Technical Skills and Competencies:
- Understanding of fundamental trading contractual terms and workflow, including the core functions of various departments on full spectrum of trade execution flow.
- Knowledge of incoterms and shipping charter party terms.
- Prior experience in the maritime/shipping industry is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word) Coding skills are an advantage
- Being meticulous on contract drafting and countering. Being proactive and sharp eyes for details during the course of operating shipments.
- Able to do operation work after the cargo shipment is completed such as checking invoices, and working with suppliers and buyers on form D, to ensure these documents are issued on time and accurately.
