Trader (equities long/short hedge fund)

Job Summary

1. Due to business growth, an established Japan-focused equities long/short hedge fund is adding an experienced Trader to join its Singapore-based trading team.
2. The successful candidate will execute trade orders on behalf of portfolio managers and operate various trade execution activities.
3. The role will work closely with Senior Trader and trading team to operate the trading desk.

Job Description / Key Responsibilities

1. Execute trades and manage trade orders on behalf of portfolio managers for Japan and certain Asian markets.
2. Monitor portfolio risk, positioning, attribution and P&L reporting.
3. Conduct transaction cost analysis (TCA) to assess execution efficiency and support best execution practices.
4. Monitor and manage pre-trade allocation splits between commingled funds and separately managed accounts (SMAs).
5. Perform trade orders processing and reconciliation across trade execution and portfolio management systems.
6. Coordinate with execution brokers to resolve trade order issues.
7. Monitor restriction lists relating to IPO and PO participations.
8. Work closely with the Senior Trader and internal stakeholders to implement improvements to trading processes and workflows.

Key Requirements

1. At least 5 years of buy-side trading/execution experience, preferably within an Asia-based equities long/short hedge fund.
2. Knowledge and practical experience trading listed equities, listed equity swaps, listed futures, listed options and FX hedging.
3. Understanding of trading compliance requirements across Asian equity markets.
4. Understanding of pre-trade allocation processes between commingled funds and SMAs.
5. Proficiency in trade execution and portfolio management systems (Enfusion, TORA or other platforms).
6. Proficiency in Excel, Python, VBA, programming and other automation tools.
7. Degree in Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
