Position Overview
The Trade Operations & Finance Executive will manage end-to-end trade operations and trade finance activities in the commodities sector. This hybrid role requires expertise in contract negotiation, logistics coordination, and trade finance instruments, ensuring smooth execution of transactions and compliance with international banking standards.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Operations
- Prepare and negotiate terms & conditions for Sales & Purchase Contracts.
- Liaise with suppliers, buyers, surveyors, bankers, ship owners/brokers, cargo agents, and insurance brokers.
- Monitor and manage logistics operations, including oil loading/discharging with terminals, vessel operators, cargo surveyors, agents, and customers.
- Proactively manage and recover demurrage, oil loss, and insurance claims.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Trade Finance
- Handle trade finance transactions such as Import Letters of Credit (ILC), Trust Receipts (TR), freight loans, and Export LC discounting.
- Prepare, negotiate, apply, and present Letters of Credit (LC), including issuance, amendments, and Master LC (MLC).
- Prepare Proforma Invoices and export documents for banks or clients.
- Monitor import payments, export receipts, and remittance transactions liaise with bank operations teams to resolve issues.
- Track and update banks facilities limits and utilization.
- Assist in monitoring company cash flow movements on a daily and weekly basis.
- Liaise with bankers to open new credit facilities and review existing ones.
- Respond to bankers queries and ensure proper filing and archiving of transactions.
Operations Support
- Develop and implement operational workflows to improve efficiency.
- Prepare operational and financial reports for management review.
- Coordinate with internal teams to streamline processes and resolve issues.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- At least 2 years of trade operations experience in the energy and/or commodities industry.
- Knowledge of trade finance instruments and international banking practices.
- Proficiency in Chinese and English (able to correspond with Chinese counterparties/banks).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Mature, independent, self-motivated, and a team player.
- Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferably available to start immediately or on short notice.
