We are hiring on behalf of our client, an established international metals trading company, for a Trade Finance Executive to support its trade finance and banking operations.
The successful candidate will manage trade finance documentation and instruments relating to physical commodity transactions, working closely with banks, traders, operations, customers and suppliers to ensure smooth and timely execution of trades.
Handle the full spectrum of trade finance operations for physical commodity and metal trading transactions.
Manage the issuance, amendment, negotiation and settlement of Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby LCs, Bank Guarantees, Bills of Exchange and other trade finance instruments.
Review LC terms and trade documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual and banking requirements.
Liaise closely with banks, customers, suppliers, traders and operations teams to ensure timely processing of trade finance transactions.
Review shipping and commercial documents, including invoices, Bills of Lading, certificates and other supporting documents required under LCs.
Identify and follow up on LC discrepancies, documentation issues and payment matters to ensure timely resolution.
Ensure documentation complies with UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms and relevant international banking and trade practices.
Monitor incoming and outgoing trade payments and perform reconciliation and follow-up where required.
Coordinate with trading, sales, procurement and logistics teams to ensure financing arrangements and documentation are aligned with shipment schedules and contractual terms.
Monitor utilisation of banking and trade finance facilities and assist with funding and cash-flow requirements for trading activities.
Prepare regular reports on trade finance transactions, banking facilities and funding requirements.
Support internal and external audits relating to trade finance and banking transactions.
Ensure compliance with applicable sanctions, AML/KYC requirements, internal policies and international trade regulations.
Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration or a related discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant Trade Finance experience, preferably within metals, steel, mining, commodities or physical trading.
Hands-on experience handling Letters of Credit and international trade documentation is essential.
Strong working knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms and SWIFT messaging.
Good understanding of physical commodity trading and the trade lifecycle from contract execution and shipment through documentation and payment would be advantageous.
Experience dealing directly with banks and international counterparties is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel experience with ERP or commodity trading systems would be an advantage.
Meticulous and highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
Able to manage multiple transactions and work effectively within tight shipment and banking deadlines.
Strong communication and coordination skills with internal stakeholders, banks and external counterparties.
Candidates with experience from metal/steel trading, mining, commodities trading, international trading houses or commodity trade finance environments will be highly regarded.
