Trade Executive (Shipping Solutions)

Position Summary

The Trade Executive is a key operational role responsible for optimizing service utilization and profitability through effective allocation and slot management. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal loading factors and enhancing yield through strategic market insights. The Trade Executive collaborates with external partners on slot control activities and supports the preparation of essential reports, contributing to informed decision-making and strategic planning.

Key Accountabilities

1) Service Management

• Report directly to the COC Trade Manager, focusing on the efficient management of assigned services.
• Prepare voyage-based allocations for specific areas, ensuring 100% loading factors are achieved and maintained.

2) Utilization and Profitability Optimization

• Actively steer and optimize allocation utilization in both TEU and tonnage to maximize profitability.
• Engage in strategic slot control activities with external parties, including the purchase and sale slots.

3) Reporting and Market Analysis

• Support the preparation of monthly and weekly reports for the COC Yield and Capacity Manager, providing valuable insights into service performance.
• Gather and analyze market information from both external and internal sources to propose Minimum Rate Guidelines (MRG) that achieve the best yield.

4) Pricing and Minimum Rate Guidelines (MRG)

• Help in setting monthly or quarterly MRGs based on cost breakdowns, margin objectives, competitors rates and historical cargo patterns.
• Support the alignment of MRG adjustments with SOC to prevent internal undercutting.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Possess a Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Shipping, Transportation, or a related discipline
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the container shipping industry
• Demonstrate analytical skills with a systematic and efficient approach to task management
• Self-motivated, proactive and reliable with strong work ethic
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, coupled with strong communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
