Job Summary
You will cut, shape, and install tiles, granite, and marble accurately using power and hand tools. You will prepare surfaces, apply adhesives, and create decorative designs while ensuring precision and durability in various indoor spaces.
Responsibilities
- Cut tiles and shape them precisely to fit around obstacles and tight spaces using power and hand tools
- Form tile beds by applying concrete, plaster, mastic, cement, glue, or mortar using screeds, brushes, and trowels
- Align and straighten tiles with straightedges, levels, and squares to ensure even and accurate patterns
- Cut, install, polish, and surface granite and marble with accuracy to ensure lasting installation results
- Prepare surfaces for tiling by cleaning and applying waterproofing materials or lath
- Create decorative wall and floor designs by laying and setting mosaic tiles in kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms
- Tap tiles carefully into place using appropriate tools to adhere tiles without damage
- Follow blueprints precisely and measure surfaces accurately for tiling
Required competencies and certifications
- Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment to safely handle job tasks
- Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions including heat, cold, and outdoors
- Willingness to work overtime and midnight shifts to meet project deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with clients
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Secondary School / high school / diploma or equivalent education
- Carpentry and renovation experience to support related tasks
