Job Responsibilities
- Providing general legal advice to the Company on commercial contracts in particular technology focused commercial contracts.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts related to procurement of technology solutions including RFPs, tenders, and vendor agreements. Developing and maintaining legal templates and risk assessment and mitigation processes.
- Providing legal support and advice on technology related issues and personal data /company data compliance related issues.
- Analyse legal issues and develop practical, business aligned solutions that balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
- Understand the company's technology needs and their legal implications.
- Update the company on changes in laws and regulations affecting the tech sector as it relates to the business of the company.
- Ensure compliance with internal contracting policies and approval processes.
- Conducting disciplinary related inquiries into breach of Company's disciplinary policy related to breach of the Company's technology/ personal data /company data related policies.
- Creating legal training materials and conducting legal training for Company staff on matters related to compliance with the Company's technology and data related policies.
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a local university like National University of Singapore (NUS) or Singapore Management University (SMU) or other recognized overseas university listed by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE)
- Further certifications or postgraduate studies in data privacy, technology law, artificial intelligence or digital regulation are preferred
- Admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore or its equivalent in a commonwealth jurisdiction.
Experience
- Minimum 4 to 5 years PQE from a reputable mid to top tier law firm or a well-regarded in-house legal team in a technology law role.
Other Prerequisites
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements in particular in areas like data protection, tech contracts, media law and telecoms regulation.
- Be a strong drafter, communicator and possess a commercially savvy approach to legal matters.
- Be confident, possess initiative and have the ability to prioritize, multitask and work under pressure.
