Prepare, develop, and maintain accurate, clear, and structured technical documentation for automated equipment, systems, and associated software.
Work closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to gather technical information related to machine design, control logic, safety systems, and operational behaviour.
Interpret and translate complex automation concepts (e.g. system workflows, machine sequences, interlocks, alarms, and fault scenarios) into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
Apply a user‑centric approach to documentation, ensuring clarity, usability, and accessibility for operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, and engineers.
Maintain and adhere to the DCC Style Guide to ensure consistency in format, terminology, and presentation across all documentation deliverables.
Manage documentation lifecycle activities, including version control, updates, reviews, and archival in line with product changes or system revisions.
Create and enhance documentation with appropriate diagrams, screenshots, flowcharts, and images using graphic tools such as Photoshop to support understanding of automated systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to documentation processes, including interest in documentation automation and efficient content reuse.
Provide additional documentation support as required, including updates arising from equipment upgrades, system modifications, audits, or customer feedback.
Support documentation management on SharePoint, including creation and maintenance of pages and document libraries.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
Strong proficiency in MS Word, including document structuring, styles, formatting, and template usage.
Good written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to technical accuracy and detail.
Strong research skills and ability to work effectively and independently with subject matter experts to obtain accurate technical information.
Proven ability to translate complex automation and equipment-related concepts into clear, structured, and easy-to-understand documentation.
Knowledge of or interest in Adobe Photoshop or similar tools for image editing, annotations, and technical illustrations.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a professional engineering or manufacturing environment.
Preferred but not required: Familiarity with SharePoint for documentation management and page creation.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Technical Writing or a related documentation role.
Proven experience creating user manuals (e.g. Safety & Troubleshooting, Operating, Software, and Maintenance manuals) for automated equipment, machinery, or software‑controlled systems.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document structuring, styles, formatting, and template usage.
