Job Description

We are currently supporting a leading maritime organisation in its search for an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management and operational performance of vessels within its fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels.
  • Ensure vessels operate safely, reliably and in compliance with class, flag, statutory and company requirements.
  • Monitor vessel performance, maintenance schedules, machinery condition and technical KPIs.
  • Plan and manage dry-docking, repairs, surveys, inspections and major maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate closely with vessel Masters, Chief Engineers, crew, shipyards, class societies and external service providers.
  • Review and manage vessel maintenance budgets, procurement and technical expenditure.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to onboard teams.
  • Investigate technical defects, breakdowns and incidents and ensure effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support vetting, inspections, audits and incident investigations where required.
  • Monitor planned maintenance systems and ensure timely completion of critical maintenance activities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, charterers, class, flag authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across fleet technical operations.

Ideal Candidate

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous sailing experience as Chief Engineer is highly preferred.
  • Proven shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent / Senior Technical Superintendent.
  • Strong experience in technical management of vessels.
  • Good knowledge of class, flag, statutory and marine regulatory requirements.
  • Strong project management, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
