Job Description

Our client is an established ship owner and multinational shipping company with a diversified fleet of vessels. As part of its continued growth, the company is looking to recruit a:

Technical Superintendent (Tankers)

(Based in Singapore)

THE ORGANIZATION

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will take ownership of the technical management of assigned vessels, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, compliance, and operational performance. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with onboard teams, classification societies, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support the efficient operation of the fleet.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical management of assigned vessels throughout their operational lifecycle.
  • Coordinate vessel maintenance, repairs, surveys, dry dockings, and technical projects to minimise downtime and optimise fleet performance.
  • Monitor vessel condition and provide technical guidance to onboard engineering teams to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Manage maintenance planning, spare parts availability, and technical procurement requirements.
  • Monitor technical expenditure, prepare budgets, and ensure cost-effective management of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure vessels remain fully compliant with Class, Flag State, statutory, and company requirements.
  • Support incident investigations, technical troubleshooting, and the implementation of preventive measures where required.
  • Work closely with internal departments, ship staff, service providers, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth fleet operations.
  • Keep abreast of changing maritime regulations and support their implementation across the fleet.
  • Participate in fleet improvement initiatives and provide technical support for special projects as required.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Chief Engineer (Class 1 Motor) Certificate of Competency.
  • Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Sailing experience as Chief Engineer tankers vessels.
  • Previous shore-based experience 1-2 years managing vessel technical operations.
  • Good understanding of planned maintenance, dry dockings, regulatory compliance, and technical budgeting.
  • Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced shipping environment.
  • Willing to travel internationally when operational requirements arise.
  • Only candidates currently based in Singapore will be considered, in line with the client's current hiring requirements.
