About the Role:
Our client, a well-established player in the maritime industry, is currently looking for Technical Superintendents to manage and support their growing fleet of bunker tankers and ocean-going tankers. The ideal candidates will have strong seagoing or shore-based technical experience with oil or bunker tankers and will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective technical operations of assigned vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily technical operations and maintenance of assigned vessels, ensuring full compliance with MPA, IMO, Class and flag state regulations.
- Plan and manage dry-docking, repairs and technical inspections.
- Monitor vessel performance, machinery condition and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with ship captains and chief engineers to resolve technical issues and provide operational support.
- Review and manage budgets for vessel operations and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards (e.g. ISM, ISPS, MARPOL).
- Work closely with procurement and vendors for spares, services and supplies.
- Participate in audits, investigations and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Provide guidance to onboard engineering teams to ensure competency and high performance.
Requirements:
For Bunker Fleet:
- Seagoing experience as Chief Engineer, Second or Third Engineer (CoC Class 1 to 3).
- OR minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Technical Superintendent managing bunker or oil tankers.
For Ocean-Going Tankers:
- Must hold a valid CoC Class 1 and have relevant seagoing or shore-based experience on oil/chemical tankers.
- Strong understanding of marine engineering systems, class/flag regulations and tanker operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
- High standards of integrity, accountability and professionalism.
