Technical Sales Engineer (Process Instrumentation -Utilities & Energy Solutions)

About the Role

We are a lean, technically driven, solution-oriented team. Candidates should be comfortable handling both sales responsibilities and basic technical discussions.

We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to develop business opportunities in utility and energy monitoring applications across industries such as power, manufacturing, refineries, chemical plants, building facilities management, and HVAC systems.

This role focuses on delivering instrumentation-based solutions in flow, level, temperature, energy, and power monitoring to help customers improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and enhance operational visibility.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and develop new opportunities in utility systems such as cooling water, steam, chilled water, compressed air, and energy/power monitoring
  • Engage with end users, consultants, contractors, and system integrators
  • Prepare and follow up on technical and commercial proposals
  • Drive sales of instrumentation products and integrated solutions

Application & Solution Selling

  • Understand customer system requirements and propose suitable solutions involving:
  • Flow measurement
  • Temperature measurement (e.g. Pt100, Pt1000)
  • BTU / energy metering
  • Electrical power and energy monitoring (e.g. power factor, kW)
  • Position solutions based on energy efficiency, operational benefits, and cost savings, rather than product features alone

Technical Support

  • Provide basic technical clarification and assist with product selection
  • Work with principals and vendors for more detailed solution support when required
  • Support commissioning activities and simple troubleshooting when needed

Account Management

  • Build long-term relationships with key accounts
  • Follow up on leads, quotations, and project opportunities
  • Maintain and develop a strong understanding of customer requirements and site conditions

Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in:
  • Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, or related discipline)
  • Or equivalent technical background

Experience

Preferred:

  • 1-5 years of experience in:
  • Industrial sales
  • Instrumentation / automation
  • HVAC / utilities / energy systems

Also open to:

  • Fresh graduates with a strong interest in technical sales and willingness to learn

Technical Understanding (Preferred but Trainable)

  • Basic knowledge of:
  • Flow, temperature, pressure, and level measurement
  • Utility systems (steam, chilled water, compressed air)
  • Energy concepts (kW, BTU, efficiency, power factor)

Skills & Attributes

Must-have:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both engineers and non-technical clients
  • Willingness to learn and handle technical products
  • Proactive and self-driven attitude (important in a small team environment)
  • Ability to work independently

Good to have:

  • Familiarity with Modbus or other industrial communication protocols
  • Experience reading P&IDs or system diagrams

Additional Information

  • Based in Singapore
  • Site visits required (industrial plants and commercial facilities)
