Job Description

The Company
Our client is a global semiconductor technology and equipment organisation establishing a strategic R&D hub in Singapore. As the organisation continues to invest in next-generation semiconductor equipment technologies, we are looking for a Technical Director, R&D to lead the Singapore-based R&D team and shape its technology direction.

The Role
This is a high-impact technical leadership role for an experienced R&D leader who is passionate about technology, innovation and building new capabilities. You will have the opportunity to define the R&D roadmap, lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and influence the development of next-generation semiconductor equipment technologies from early-stage concept through technology validation and commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and run the R&D and technology roadmap, aligned with long-term business and technology objectives.
  • Lead research, innovation and new technology / product development initiatives in semiconductor equipment.
  • Drive technology development from concept, architecture and prototyping through testing, validation and commercialisation.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary R&D team spanning mechanical, electrical, RF, process, software and systems engineering.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, semiconductor industry trends and customer requirements to identify opportunities for technology differentiation.
  • Establish engineering best practices, design standards and robust R&D processes to support sustainable technology development.
  • Work closely with global R&D, product and technology teams to translate emerging semiconductor requirements into differentiated technology platforms and new product concepts.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and global teams to secure the technical resources, investment and support required for Singapore-led R&D initiatives.
  • Manage R&D resources, budgets and technology investments while maintaining strong technical, quality and project outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop technical talent and foster a culture of innovation, technical curiosity and continuous learning.

The Talent

  • Master's or PhD in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in semiconductor equipment, advanced technology development, R&D or related high-technology industries.
  • Experience in leading new technology or complex product development, ideally from early-stage concept through commercialisation.
  • Most importantly, you are genuinely passionate about R&D and technology and remain technically engaged while leading teams.
