Job Description

We are seeking a technically skilled Tech Transfer - Cell Culture Scientist to support the transfer, scale-up, optimization, and implementation of cell culture processes from laboratory development to pilot and production scale.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal technical teams, customers, and external partners to ensure effective technology transfer and successful execution of cell culture processes. The role involves hands-on cell culture activities, bioreactor operations, process monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Support the technology transfer of cell culture processes from customers, partners, or R&D teams into the company's facility.
Review and translate customer or process development protocols into executable internal procedures, batch records, and operating instructions.
Perform hands-on cell culture activities, including cell thawing, cell expansion, passaging, inoculum preparation, cell banking, and harvesting.
Operate and monitor bioreactor systems at laboratory and scale-up levels.
Support process scale-up, optimization, characterisation, and validation activities.
Monitor and analyze critical process parameters.
Plan and execute experiments to evaluate process performance, reproducibility, and scalability.
Troubleshoot cell culture and bioprocess issues, investigate process deviations, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including protocols, SOPs, batch records, experimental records, technology transfer documents, risk assessments, and technical reports.
Support equipment qualification, calibration, maintenance, cleaning, and readiness activities related to cell culture and bioprocess operations.
Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, and other relevant functions to ensure successful process implementation.
Provide technical support and training to operations personnel during process transfer and scale-up.
Ensure laboratory and production activities are performed in accordance with applicable SOPs, quality requirements, biosafety requirements, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Communicate effectively with customers and external partners regarding technical requirements, process performance, troubleshooting, and technology transfer activities.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and better process control.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or a related life science discipline.

Experience & Technical Skills

Preferably 2-5 years of relevant experience in cell culture, bioprocessing, biotechnology, cellular agriculture, cultivated meat/seafood, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, or a related field.
Hands-on experience in mammalian, fish, or other animal cell culture is highly preferred.
Experience with aseptic techniques, cell expansion, cell banking, harvesting, and bioreactor operations is preferred.
Experience in process scale-up and/or technology transfer will be an advantage.
Familiarity with monitoring and interpreting cell culture parameters.
Experience in process troubleshooting, experimental design, data analysis, and root cause investigation is an advantage.
Knowledge of GMP, food safety, quality systems, biosafety, or other regulated manufacturing environments will be an advantage.
Good technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare SOPs, protocols, reports, batch records, and technology transfer documents.
