Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, experienced, and results-driven Team Lead/Manager to oversee the Edible Oil Desk Execution Team in Singapore. This role is responsible for managing a growing team of execution professionals in a fast paced and dynamic environment, ensuring efficient, timely, and compliant execution of edible oil trading contracts across global markets. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in aligning operational execution with trading strategies, driving process improvements, and fostering a high-performance team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of execution professionals, responsible for the end-to-end shipment of edible oil contracts.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular team meetings, and oversee training and development plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Execution Oversight
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of physical contracts, including shipping documentation, LC handling, demurrage calculations, and post-fixture operations.
- Liaise closely with traders, chartering, finance, and logistics teams to ensure smooth execution flow.
- Manage relationships with key counterparties including customers, suppliers, inspection agencies, shipping lines, and port authorities.
Process & Compliance
- Ensure all execution activities comply with internal policies, external regulations, and relevant international trade laws.
- Oversee contract fulfillment to minimize operational and financial risk.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and efficiency enhancements.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key point of contact between the execution team and senior trading/management teams.
- Provide regular updates on execution performance, risks, and bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with commercial, finance, HR and IT teams to align execution strategies with business goals.
Reporting & Analysis
- Monitor and report KPIs for execution performance, cost control, and team productivity.
- Analyze trends in commodity & shipping execution such as demurrage, claims, or delays and propose corrective actions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or related field..
- Minimum 1012 years of experience in commodity operations, preferably in edible oils or soft commodities.
- Proven experience about 5-8 years of managing or leading a large execution team in a fast-paced commodity environment.
- Strong knowledge of international trade, Incoterms, shipping documentation, and LC processes.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with commodity trading systems is a plus.
