The NUS High School is a specialised school offering a seamless 6-year programme to students between the ages of 12+ and 18 years and who have an aptitude for Mathematics and Science. We invite suitable applicants for the following position.
TEACHER in the following subject: MUSIC
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Music Teacher who is committed to nurturing high-ability learners through innovative, interdisciplinary, and technology-enhanced music education. The candidate is able to
- demonstrate the ability to hear well, play well, explain well, and connect well.
- deliver engaging music lessons for students aged 12+-18.
- teach effectively in large groups with mixed ability, managing classroom energy positively.
- provide for both musical development and character growth of students
- apply innovative, creative and relevant pedagogical strategies to support different learners, to inspire and engage students.
- contribute to the design and delivery of an integrated, interdisciplinary 6-year curriculum.
- mentor a form class or oversee a CCA, as well as to undertake other responsibilities within the framework of providing a holistic education for the students.
- learn and be trained to meet the necessary school or department duties so to provide and support holistic development for the students.
Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education from a reputable university (Post-Graduate Diploma Education qualifications will be an advantage).
- At least 12 months of classroom teaching experience at the high school level (Professional teaching qualification will be an advantage).
- Experience in research, curriculum development, or interdisciplinary work is an advantage.
- Demonstrate musical competencies (primary instrument or voice, basic proficiency across multiple instruments, strong teaching skills, ability to conduct ensembles, knowledge of music history and diverse genres, skills in arrangement and adaptation of music)
- ICT & Digital Skills: MS Office 365, Online teaching platforms (e.g. Zoom / Teams meet), Notation software (e.g. Muse Score, Sibelius), Audio recording/editing tools, Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs).
- Enthusiastic and passionate about music and teaching (demonstrated through action).
- Strong team player with growth mindset, self-directed, proactive and adaptable.
Employment Terms: 2-year contract, subject to renewal.
