Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide early childhood education and developmentally appropriate instruction to children with developmental delays or disabilities.
- Create and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for each child based on their specific needs and goals.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions to support children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Plan and conduct engaging and inclusive lessons and activities that promote language development, motor skills, and overall learning.
- Collaborate with a team of professionals, including therapists, psychologists, and speech therapists, to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to the child's care and development.
- Use adaptive and assistive technologies, as needed, to facilitate children's participation and access to learning opportunities.
- Foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages children's curiosity, exploration, and positive social interactions.
- Work closely with parents, caregivers, and families to involve them in the child's learning journey and provide guidance on reinforcing skills and concepts at home.
- Assess children's progress regularly through observations, assessments, and informal evaluations, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of children's progress, attendance, and behaviour.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs and intervention plans.
- Collaborate with the early intervention centre staff to support the integration of therapy goals and strategies into the classroom setting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant educational regulations, policies, and best practices in early childhood education.
- Attend professional development opportunities and training sessions to stay updated with the latest research and teaching methodologies.
- Support children's transition to other educational settings or programs, providing recommendations and follow-up services as needed.
- Adapt instructional materials and activities to accommodate individual learning styles and developmental levels.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity and respects each child's unique strengths and challenges.
- Encourage and facilitate peer interactions and cooperative play among children.
- Provide emotional support and behavioral guidance to help children develop self-regulation and coping skills.
Requirements:
Possess Diploma in Early Childhood and/or Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention-Special Needs (ADESN)
At least 2 years of relevant working experience in the preschool environment or working with special needs children
Proficient in PECS, positive reinforcement and behavioral management strategies and other early intervention teaching methodology is referred
Proficient in crafting and planning of IEP
Good empathy, tolerance and temperament towards children is a must
Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Able to work well independently as well as within a team
