Job Summary
Support school operations by maintaining and preparing teaching resources, assisting in school programs, ensuring safety compliance in activity rooms, conducting stocktakes, and performing other duties as assigned by school leaders.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and prepare teaching and learning resources in the Science Room, Mathematics Room, and Tinkering Corner to ensure materials are available and in good condition for lessons
- Manage records of equipment and resource loans, damages, and servicing schedules to track usage and maintenance needs
- Advise teachers and students on available resources, their locations, and proper usage to support effective learning
- Maintain general décor, cleanliness, and safety of the Science Room, Mathematics Room, and Tinkering Corner to provide a safe learning environment
- Assist in preparing and conducting lessons and practical tests, such as Science Practical Tests, as required by school staff
- Support the school's hydroponics and gardening programs by maintaining plants, purchasing gardening materials, and assisting teachers during student sessions
- Support learning events including the Tinkerlution Programme, supplementary lessons, and enrichment workshops to enhance student engagement
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in assigned rooms, including proper labeling and storage of chemicals and flammable materials per the Science Safety Handbook
- Participate in safety audits and follow Standard Operating Procedures during emergencies to maintain a safe environment
- Conduct biannual stocktakes of resources such as books, expendables, dataloggers, microscopes, apparatus, displays, specimens, models, and manipulatives to maintain accurate inventory records
- Identify and recommend equipment for condemnation or redundancy when necessary to keep resources up to date
- Perform additional duties as directed by School Leaders and Heads of Departments to support school operations
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Completion of GCE N Levels
- Proficiency in office skills including word processing and Microsoft Excel for record keeping and documentation
- At least 2 years of relevant experience supporting educational or school programs
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours: - Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4:30pm,inclusiveof ½hr lunch break
- Fridays: 7:30am to 4pm, inclusive of½hrlunch break
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted publicholidays
- Service not required during June and Decemberschool holidays except for the last week when staff return to school (specificdates to be confirmed by the school)
- Flexible Deployment:
- Between 2pm to 4:30pm, if service is notrequired in the Science lab, the school may deploy the Teaching Assistant to helpwith general office duties.
