Job Description

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and customers to understand marine communication system requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Design, configure, and implement marine communication systems, considering factors such as vessel size, communication range, data transfer rates, and regulatory compliance.
  • Utilize AutoCAD software to create comprehensive system designs, schematics, and wiring diagrams for marine communication systems.
  • Ensure the security and reliability of marine communication systems, implementing appropriate encryption protocols and access controls.
  • Manage marine communication system projects, including resource allocation, timeline management, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Create detailed documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and maintenance guidelines, utilizing AutoCAD and other tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks relevant to the business needs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in designing and maintaining marine communication systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software for creating detailed system designs, schematics, and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of marine communication technologies, including VHF, UHF, MF/HF, satellite communication, and associated protocols.
  • Familiarity with marine communication regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., SOLAS, GMDSS).
  • Experience in project management, including leading marine communication system projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills specific to marine communication systems.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols relevant to marine environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., GMDSS General Operator's Certificate, FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit) are a plus.
  • Appointment shall commensurate with experience.
