Job Summary
Support the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of server and network hardware and software under supervision, ensuring smooth operations and timely escalation of issues in a data center environment.
Responsibilities
- Unbox, rack, and cable server and network hardware following instructions from senior engineers
- Install Windows and Linux operating systems and maintain accurate installation documentation
- Monitor VMware and Proxmox dashboards to detect alerts and perform VM tasks such as snapshots, reboots, and resource adjustments
- Respond to hardware alarms and troubleshoot desktop and connectivity issues as the first line of defense
- Participate in standby rotation to address critical outages or hardware failures outside standard hours and escalate complex issues to senior staff
Required competencies and certifications
- 1-2 years of experience in System Administration or Engineering
- Diploma in System & Network or equivalent certifications
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server roles and Linux command line usage
- Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, and physical network cabling
- Ability to work in a data center environment, including moving and installing heavy equipment
