System Engineer

Evo Commerce owns a few CPG brands focusing on high quality supplements. We're currently operating in 3 markets and our team members are based out of Singapore. We have past experience working in big tech companies which includes Grab, Tiktok, Zalora, FoodPanda, Fave, Shopee, etc.

Our hero product, bback (previously known as Bounceback), is currently one of the fastest growing CPG brands in SEA and is loved by bankers, traders, influencers and bartenders with a high efficacy rate against hangover post drinking. Our aim is to become the Redbull of hangover recovery, making hangover remedies accessible to drinkers worldwide. Then came Stryv, our high quality, salon-grade hair tools and product line with an affordable price tag. We believe there's no need to break your bank to get the hair you want.

We're big advocates of direct-to-consumer brands, and believe in the new world (Post-COVID), consumers buy directly from global brands through digital native storefront, bypassing distributors, wholesalers and retailers. This means commerce and information are more efficient, and the implication to the end customer is that product quality goes up and cost of goods are reduced drastically. We are looking for a Systems Engineer to design and own the backend systems that power our business.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and data. You will be responsible for ensuring all our tools, data, and workflows (marketing, e-commerce, finance, and customer support) work together as a clean, reliable, and scalable system.

You will leverage modern tools and AI (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to move fast — but your core responsibility is system design, data integrity, and reliability, not just writing code.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System architecture & design

• Design how our core systems connect (Shopify, CRM, support tools, finance tools, marketing stack)
• Define clean data flows and system boundaries
• Select and rationalize tools to avoid fragmentation

2. Integrations & automation

• Build and maintain integrations using APIs, webhooks, and automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n, etc.)
• Replace fragile automations with more robust solutions where needed
• Ensure workflows are resilient (error handling, retries, monitoring)

3. Data ownership

• Design and maintain our core data layer (customer, order, revenue data)
• Ensure consistency across systems (single source of truth)
• Build internal dashboards and reporting pipelines where necessary

4. Reliability & operations

• Monitor systems and proactively fix issues
• Debug failures across integrations and workflows
• Ensure business-critical processes run without interruption

5. Security & access control

• Manage permissions, roles, and access across tools
• Handle API keys, secrets, and basic security best practices
• Reduce risk across our systems and integrations

Requirements:

• 4–7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent hands-on experience building and operating production systems
• Strong backend experience (Node.js, Python, or similar)
• Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent)
• Experience working with APIs, webhooks, and system integrations
• Strong systems thinking — ability to design clean, scalable architectures
• Experience with e-commerce systems (Shopify or similar)
• Familiarity with automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n)
• Exposure to modern data stacks (warehouses, ETL pipelines)
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate development
• High ownership — you are the owner of the system, not just a contributor
• Pragmatic — you know when to move fast vs. build robustly
• Detail-oriented — you care about edge cases and data correctness
• Product-minded — you understand how systems impact business outcomes
