System Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a System Engineer to implement, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure for client offices and data centers. This role involves setting up servers, networks, and storage solutions, as well as providing ongoing support for client infrastructure needs. You will work closely with the Technical Lead and other team members to ensure that client environments are optimised for performance, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure for office setups and data centers.
- Install and configure networking equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Install, configure, and manage physical and virtual servers.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure issues.
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, server configurations, and infrastructure setups.
- Collaborate with vendors and the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of equipment.
- Implement security best practices and ensure infrastructure is compliant with industry standards.
- Support ad-hoc tasks and assignments when required
Requirements
Experiences:
- 2 years of experience in system engineering, network administration, or IT infrastructure support.
- Experience in deploying and managing network and server infrastructures in office and data center environments.
- Experience with physical and virtual server environments (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of network protocols, firewall configurations, and security practices.
- Proficiency with server installation and management (Windows Server, Linux, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and storage systems.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and client engagement skills.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail in documentation and system configurations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Engineering/Computer Science, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) are a plus.
