Job Summary

Facilitate structured workshops focused on study skills, learning strategies, and academic effectiveness for upper primary and secondary students.

You will lead students through guided activities, teach specific techniques, and support them in applying these strategies to their current academic workload and learning routines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured workshops aligned with provided lesson plans and learning objectives
  • Teach and model specific academic strategies (e.g. revision methods, time allocation, task breakdown, goal setting)
  • Guide students in applying strategies to real subjects and upcoming academic demands
  • Support students in planning realistic study schedules and managing workload
  • Facilitate structured discussions and reflection to reinforce learning
  • Provide clear, actionable, individualised feedback
  • Ensure students actively practise techniques during sessions
  • Maintain a focused, well-managed classroom environment
  • Adapt delivery based on student readiness and pace
  • Work closely with programme leads and school staff

Required Skills & Requirements

Instructional Ability

  • Able to explicitly teach structured learning strategies, not just facilitate activities
  • Strong command of spoken English with clear, controlled delivery
  • Able to translate concepts into step-by-step student actions

Facilitation & Classroom Management

  • Confident managing large groups in school environments
  • Maintains control while sustaining engagement
  • Comfortable handling mixed-ability classes

Student Development & Coaching

  • Able to guide students in applying strategies to their own academic context
  • Provides direct, constructive, and specific feedback
  • Able to work with students who may have varying motivation levels

Instructional Delivery

  • Able to follow structured lesson plans precisely
  • Maintains pacing across time-bound sessions
  • Ensures key outcomes are met within limited session time

Adaptability

  • Adjusts delivery without compromising structure
  • Handles variation in student response and classroom dynamics

Professional Conduct

  • Punctual, prepared, and reliable in school settings
  • Able to work within formal school expectations and protocols

Eligibility & Compliance

  • Eligible to work in Singapore
  • Registered with MOE as an Instructor/Trainer (MOE IRS), or willing to apply when required

Education

Minimum GCE A Levels or Diploma
Background in Education, Psychology, Communication, or related fields is advantageous

Preferred Experience

  • Experience delivering structured academic or skills-based programmes
  • Experience working with upper primary students in classroom settings
  • Experience preparing students for performance-driven academic contexts
  • Familiarity with facilitating short, intensive workshop formats

Programme Requirements Awareness (Internal Expectation)

Facilitators should be prepared to work within programmes that may require:

  • Clearly structured sessions with defined techniques per segment
  • Strong linkage between activities and learning outcomes
  • Guided application to students current academic workload
  • Reflection and consolidation within session time
  • Consistency in delivery across multiple classes

Engagement Details

Compensation

Assistant Trainer: $30/h
Main Trainer: $45 - $60/h
