Job purpose:
Internship Programme is idea for candidates with a strong interest in financial markets, quantitative methods, and credit instruments who are looking to build a career in structured credit trading, or other credit-related roles. The programme is designed for candidates who are currently studying and enrolled in a university program.
You will gain an overview of operational and strategic tasks of the Trading function, while learning and understanding the desk's global mandate. The role will collaborate closely with stakeholders including Structuring, Sales and Risk Management.
Structured Solutions Trading: engages in the full suite of credit related products and providing asset and liability management solutions to internal or external clients (yield enhancement solutions, risk management strategies, financing structures as well as delivering balance sheet optimization).
Key activities:
- Initiate, construct, price and execute structured credit products.
- Run daily tasks including risk management, P&L reporting and analysis.
- Handle trade bookings in a timely and accurate manner and make sure systems are properly setup and operationally ready.
- Conduct pricing and risk analysis for structured credit instruments.
- Assist in providing support on a day-to-day basis, ensuring essential procedures are implemented and standards of practice maintained, given the necessary training, opportunities to interact/work with stakeholders and work on structuring/trading ideas.
- Assist in developing and define processes, systems and procedures ensuring standards and requirements are met and improving efficiency.
- Responsibilities may also include reports generation, presentations preparation, trade inputs, gathering market information and others
- Assist senior trader to monitor different kind of internal and external limits.
- To adhere to all relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Monitor and analyse credit market trends, yield spreads, and relevant macroeconomic events.
Formal education:
- Currently enrolled in a university or academic institution and pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- The candidate is preferred to be with GPA above 3.5 (on score of 4.0) or 2nd Class Upper.
- A higher degree such as Master's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics is an advantage.
Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification):
- Is very interested in working in the financial markets and have some understanding of basic derivative products and economic developments
- A good level of computer literacy. Proficiency in MS Office (particularly in Excel and VBA programming skills).
- Fluent in English. Other language skills, particularly Mandarin or Korean would be an advantage
- Relevant work/internship experience within a financial institution would be an advantage
