As a Strategy Director at BLKJ Havas, you are one of the custodians of our thinking standard. You will:

• Set the strategic ambition for brands, briefs, and teams

• Be the person others turn to when the answer isn't obvious

• Shape how strategy shows up in creative work, client partnerships, and culture

Your role is not to have all the answers - it's to ask the better questions, faster and deeper, and to help the team land on work that genuinely moves culture and business.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead Strategy, Not Just Projects

• Own the strategic direction across key accounts, ensuring work ladders up to clear business, brand, and creative outcomes.

• Diagnose complex client problems and reframe them into sharp, inspiring opportunities.

• Set strategic agendas that look beyond individual campaigns and build brands over time.

Be a Strategic Partner to Clients

• Act as a trusted senior advisor to clients, guiding thinking beyond communications alone.

• Lead strategic conversations with confidence - able to challenge assumptions, reframe problems, and push ambition.

• Help clients see their brands, consumers, and role in culture more clearly.

Drive Creative Excellence

• Partner closely with Creative Directors to shape briefs that unlock bold, unexpected ideas.

• Hold the strategic thread from brief to execution - ensuring clarity, intent, and integrity throughout.

• Champion work that is culturally relevant, creatively brave, and strategically sound.

Set the Standard for Thinking

• Stay deeply plugged into culture - social, behavioural, technological, and creative.

• Turn research, data, and observations into clear, compelling strategic narratives.

• Keep strategy rooted in human truth, not just deck logic or frameworks.

Build, Coach, and Elevate the Team

• Lead and mentor strategists, helping them sharpen their thinking, confidence, and point of view.

• Create an environment where curiosity is encouraged and rigour is expected.

• Be a generous sounding board and challenger - raising the bar without ego.

Measure What Matters

• Work closely with data, media, and analytics partners to define success and evaluate impact.

• Translate performance results into learning, not just reporting.

• Push for optimisation across the entire journey - from awareness to consideration to conversion.

Requirements:

• 8+ years experience in strategy roles within a creative, research, media, social or communications agency environment.

• Proven experience leading strategy across large, complex or multimarket brands.

• Strong grounding in brand strategy, communications planning, and cultural insight.

• Ability to connect business problems, human behaviour, and creative opportunity.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• A natural mentor with strong facilitation skills and collaborative instincts.

• Openminded, culturally curious, and relentlessly thoughtful.

• Comfortable with ambiguity - and motivated by pushing beyond the obvious.
