Our client is a global leader in industrial components manufacturing, supporting customers across various sectors such as High-Tech Manufacturing, Automotive, Technology, Oil & Gas, Data Centre, etc. They are seeking a talented Senior Cost Accountant / Cost Accountant to join their dynamic team and drive operational excellence through insightful financial analysis and cost management
The Role
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller based in Singapore, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing support expense compared to budget, analysing absorption variances, including its forecasting and budgeting. Your expertise will play a critical role in optimizing cost efficiencies, ensuring accurate budgeting, and contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing operations.
- Cost Analysis: Analyse absorption variances by comparing actual manufacturing costs to budgeted costs, identifying factors contributing to variances, and proposing corrective actions.
- Forecasting & Budgeting: Collaborate with departments to forecast manufacturing variances and support expenses, develop annual budgets, monitor performance, and provide Budget vs Actual reports.
- Product Costing: Calculate and maintain accurate product costs, including direct materials, labour, and overhead. Validate cost data in product bills of materials (BOMs).
- Variance Reporting: Prepare detailed manufacturing cost variance reports, highlighting key drivers and trends. Present analyses to management and deliver actionable insights.
- Cost Optimization: Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements. Verify cost savings from Lean/process improvement projects for division KPI reporting.
- Investment Evaluation: Compute Return on Investment (ROI) to assess financial performance and attractiveness of investment opportunities.
- Inventory Management: Partner with the inventory team for accurate costing of inventory items and resolution of discrepancies.
- Stock Take Leadership: Lead annual stock take exercises for multiple warehouses, including planning, preparation, and post-stock take reporting.
- Financial Advisory: Act as a financial advisor to the Plant Manager, fostering close collaboration.
- Capex Monitoring: Monitor and control capital expenditure (Capex) to ensure alignment with approved budgets and business objectives.
Your Profile
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following relevant skills sets and experience:
- Diploma / Degree in Accounting or ACCA qualification
- Proven experience in accounting within a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on costing
- Background in inventory management
- Experience working with ERP systems and proficiency in Excel (vlookup, pivot tables) basic PowerPoint skills
- Willingness to take occasional night/early morning calls with US
- Ability to work independently, show flexibility, adaptability, and initiative
- Good communication and presentation skills
