About

The Senior Staff Nurse is a member of thepre-hospital healthcare team that provides high standards of quality clinical telephone triage and nursing care to callers with acute/non acute medical complaints in the community. Responsible for the supervision, guidance, and wayof junior nurses for the delivery evidence-based advice, education and guidance to callers. Mentors and guides juniors in collaboration work with other professionals to enhance teletriage services and to attain the desired patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Tele-Triage

• Conduct comprehensive telephone assessments to determine patients clinical needs and urgency of care.
• Utilise approved clinical protocols, decision support tools, and nursing judgement to triage patients appropriately.
• Identify urgent and emergency conditions requiring immediate medical attention.
• Provide evidence-based health advice, education, and self-care recommendations to callers.
• Direct patients to the most appropriate care setting and facilitate timely referrals where necessary.

Care Coordination

• Ensure all calls are managed and followed up in accordance with service standards.
• Facilitate seamless communication and transfer of clinical information between NurseFirst and healthcare providers.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals and relevant stakeholders to support patient care.
• Escalate complex or high-risk cases appropriately.

Quality, Safety & Documentation

• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation of all patient interactions.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, clinical guidelines, and nursing standards.
• Demonstrate professional communication, including the use of SBAR when escalating patient concerns.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service audits to enhance patient outcomes and service effectiveness.

Professional Development

• Maintain professional competency through continuous learning and development.
• Keep updated on clinical best practices, triage protocols, and service guidelines.
• Participate actively in departmental training and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board.
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
• Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and/or triage nursing is highly preferred.
• Able to converse effectively in Mandarin.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable using tele-triage systems and electronic documentation platforms.
• Strong commitment to patient safety and service excellence.
