Job Description
The Senior Principal Foundry Engineer will lead local foundry engineering activities for new technology introduction, process transfers, new fab enablement and the ramp-up of key products. This role requires close collaboration with foundry partners, internal technology teams, business units and customers to ensure successful process qualification, production release and volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the qualification and release of semiconductor processes in close collaboration with foundry partners, technology teams, business units and other stakeholders.
Serve as the front-end process safe-launch owner during production ramp-up.
Work closely with foundries to improve process manufacturability, product yield and production stability.
Lead new technology introduction and process-transfer projects across foundries and joint-venture manufacturing facilities.
Develop and manage project plans, resources, schedules, technical deliverables and production-readiness milestones.
Provide technical leadership and make key decisions relating to process integration, manufacturing readiness, supplier management and project execution.
Identify project risks, resolve technical and operational issues, and drive projects towards timely completion.
Interface with key customers on critical technology and product programmes.
Build strong working relationships with foundry partners and maximise their technical and operational support.
Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders to achieve business, quality, cost and schedule objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
More than 13 years of experience in front-end semiconductor process integration within a foundry production or technology-development environment.
Strong knowledge of semiconductor devices, wafer-fabrication processes and process integration.
Experience in high-voltage or BCD technologies is highly advantageous. Knowledge of non-volatile memory technologies would also be beneficial.
Strong understanding of yield enhancement methodologies, process optimisation and manufacturing-data analysis.
Demonstrated experience leading technology-development, process-transfer or production-ramp projects.
Hands-on experience managing and working with semiconductor foundries.
Strong project leadership, stakeholder-management and decision-making capabilities.
Able to balance technical considerations with resources, schedules, logistics, supplier relationships and business priorities.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to lead complex technical discussions.
Proactive, pragmatic, resourceful and results-driven.
Strong English communication skills.
Fluency in spoken Mandarin is required because the role involves regular technical and operational engagement with Mandarin-speaking foundry partners.
