About the Role:
CrowdStrike is seeking a Privacy Lead Counsel for the Asia-Pacific & Japan (APJ) region, ideally based in Singapore, to support the company's expansion across APJ and strengthen our global privacy operations in one of our most strategically important regions.
This senior role sits within CrowdStrike's Privacy Team, which is part of CrowdStrike's Privacy and Public Policy organization under the office of the President. The Privacy Lead Counsel, APJ will actively contribute to all of these efforts and will help to:
Provide legal advice across APJ, supporting internal stakeholders and regional operations with practical, business-oriented guidance on data protection requirements.
Enable Sales and support deal closure, including advising Legal teams, drafting contract language, negotiating, and supporting customer inquiries on privacy, AI, data sovereignty, cross-border transfers, and other regulatory concerns.
Strengthen CrowdStrike's privacy storytelling, including developing APJ-focused data protection resources, customer materials, and thought-leadership content.
Drive new initiatives that mature and enhance CrowdStrike's Global Privacy Compliance Program, ensuring alignment with global privacy governance frameworks.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role with strong commercial visibility.
What You'll Do:
In this role, you will provide pragmatic legal advice, dispel myths, and solve problems.
1. Sales & Customer Enablement
Partner with Sales and Sales Engineering to help close deals, especially in regulated industries and the public sector.
Address complex customer questions relating to data sovereignty, cross-border transfers, sub-processing, retention, and government access.
Support RFP processes, customer due diligence, and procurement negotiations.
Develop APJ-tailored privacy collateral, customer guidance materials, sales team training, and regional compliance resources.
2. Regional Privacy Leadership & Support for CrowdStrike's Expansion
Serve as the primary APJ privacy counsel, including for Japan, Australia, India, New Zealand, and South Korea.
Provide business-centric legal advice on regional data protection laws and cybersecurity regulations and help structure compliant data flows and regional deployment models.
Build relationships with key regulators, policymakers, and industry partners to support market expansion and reinforce CrowdStrike's regional thought leadership.
3. Global Privacy Governance & Compliance Operations
As part of the global operating privacy team, directly contribute to the operation and continuous improvement of our global privacy compliance hub, including:
Maintenance of the RoPA and documentation of processing activities.
Conducting DPIAs, legitimate interest assessments, vendor assessments, due diligence, and drafting related risk documentation.
Handling of individual rights requests, including APJ-specific requirements.
Sub-processor program administration and customer transparency obligations.
Collaboration with CrowdStrike's Information Security team to ensure privacy and security controls remain aligned with relevant certifications .
Supporting the Legal team with regional privacy expertise, including as it relates to AI and product development.
4. Privacy Thought Leadership
Support CrowdStrike's broader privacy thought leadership efforts as needed, including at certain regional privacy and cybersecurity forums.
Support Public Policy team efforts as needed to position CrowdStrike as a trusted, privacy-forward cybersecurity leader across APJ.
What You'll Need:
Law degree and qualification to practice in either Singapore, Australia, or another APJ jurisdiction.
8 - 12+ years of privacy and data protection experience, with significant in-house or law firm exposure to SaaS, cloud, or cybersecurity environments.
Demonstrated experience supporting APJ operations by working within or alongside a mature global privacy compliance program.
Deep understanding of APJ privacy laws (PDPA, APPI, APPs) and how to operationalise them, and familiarity with GDPR.
Experience advising global technology or SaaS companies on privacy-related issues specific to the APJ region, particularly on data sovereignty, cloud deployments, and government access frameworks.
Proven ability to support Sales, negotiate, debunk myths, and resolve complex APJ customer privacy concerns.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to operate across time zones and cultures. This includes regular communication and prompt responses to colleagues and management.
Fluent English proficiency required, with excellent written and verbal communication skills ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences. Proficiency in an APJ regional language would be an advantage.
Strong ownership mindset, judgment, and ability to lead projects independently.
Bonus Points:
Experience engaging with APJ regulators or public sector organizations.
Experience contributing to privacy public policy or industry advocacy.
Background in cybersecurity, AI and cloud technology, or threat intelligence.
Additional language proficiency (e.g., Japanese).
Experience working in distributed or multinational teams.
Familiarity with channel partner (reseller, referral, managed service provider) negotiations and agreement structure.
