Job Description

Engineer (Facilities Engineering)

Build Reliability, Safety & Excellence in a Mission‑Critical Environment

About The Role

We are looking for a motivated and hands‑on Facilities Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, where engineering reliability, safety, and compliance directly impact patient care and operational continuity.

You will play a key role in planning, delivering, and assuring high‑quality engineering and building services, while guiding technical staff and working closely with contractors and internal stakeholders. This position is ideal for engineers who want to grow beyond pure maintenance into system reliability, improvement projects, and leadership exposure.

Why You'll Want This Role

  • Meaningful work – your expertise supports safe, uninterrupted healthcare operations
  • Broad engineering exposure – M&E systems, non‑clinical equipment, and sterilisation systems
  • Professional development – hands‑on experience in investigations, reliability analysis, audits, and improvement initiatives
  • Leadership pathway – supervise contractors and mentor technical staff
  • Structured yet varied work – a mix of operations, projects, troubleshooting, and planning
  • Strong governance environment – work within ISO, EHS, and hospital management systems

Your Role & Impact

Technical & Operational Excellence

  • Plan, implement, and continuously review maintenance programmes for M&E systems and non‑clinical equipment, including sterilisation equipment.
  • Investigate technical issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Conduct reliability assessments, troubleshoot faults, and prepare clear incident and failure investigation reports.
  • Provide technical support for inspection, testing, commissioning, and system upgrades.
  • Oversee preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance, including budget and resource planning.
  • Ensure maintenance and project documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with standards.

Improvement, Projects & Compliance

  • Lead and support engineering improvement projects with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage licensing, claims, and regulatory requirements to ensure full compliance.
  • Monitor departmental operations, identify improvement opportunities, and drive cost‑effective, sustainable solutions.

People, Quality & Safety

  • Supervise contractors and guide technical staff to ensure high service quality and safe work practices.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and hospital management systems.
  • Investigate safety incidents and prepare required reports.
  • Participate in department‑wide initiatives, staff training, and process improvements.
  • Review and enhance SOPs to improve safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

Who We're Looking For

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Hold a Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Have a solid understanding of M&E systems (healthcare experience is an advantage but not mandatory)
  • Communicate clearly and work well with technicians, contractors, and clinical users
  • Are independent, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to perform under pressure
  • Are comfortable with documentation, coordination, and structured environments
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Who This Role Suits

This role is well‑suited for engineers who:

  • Want to move beyond routine maintenance into problem‑solving and system improvement
  • Enjoy working in complex, regulated environments
  • Are looking for career progression into senior engineering, facilities management, or leadership roles
