As a Senior Engineer in Product Design, you will drive the successful development of new products from concept through market introduction. You will research and develop innovative ideas for new and improved designs, create detailed specifications and proposals that meet customer requirements, and lead cross-functional design activities. Youll engage directly with customers, ODMs, and CMs to support product and process introductions, provide design support for cost reductions and manufacturing improvements, and oversee prototyping efforts to ensure on-time, on-spec delivery.
Our Team
You will be part of CCSs Product Design group, collaborating closely with Product Marketing, Product & Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, Advanced Quality Planning, the Reliability Laboratory, and Quality. In this role, youll also build strong partnerships with external customers and suppliers to ensure seamless communication and alignment throughout the development process.
What You Will Do
- Review customer requirements and conduct preliminary design feasibility assessments
- Benchmark competitor designs and generate design proposals via CAD models, drawings, and mock-ups
- Establish and maintain design & development plans, project files, and change-management documentation
- Create and release final CAD models, engineering drawings, and product/material/packaging specifications
- Perform design verification activities, including FMEA, design reviews, and manufacturability analyses
- Coordinate first-article inspections, reliability/screen tests, and agency approvals (UL, CSA, VDE, TUV)
- Provide ongoing design support for product modifications, cost-reduction initiatives, and process improvements
- Collaborate with prototyping teams and vendors on mold/DFM, tooling development, and issue resolution
- Review test results, customer feedback, and deviation requests; drive corrective actions and continuous improvement
- Document lessons learned and apply best practices to future product and process designs
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years experience in product design and development
- In-depth knowledge of connector design, mold/die design, and stamping processes
- Strong skills in CAD, engineering design & analysis, FMEA, and design control & management
- Proven problem-solving abilities, creativity, and clear communication skills
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Previous experience in a connector design and manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with mold-making, vendor DFM, and resolving molding issues
