Job Description

The Specialist, Strategy & Planning supports organisation-wide strategy development, enterprise planning, and the coordination of strategic initiatives. Working closely with the Executive Director and senior leaders, the role contributes to translating strategic priorities into practical plans, tracking progress across initiatives, and strengthening organisational planning and performance monitoring.

The role is designed as a developmental strategic role, providing exposure to the breadth of RC's services and corporate functions. Through close involvement in organisational planning, transformation initiatives, and executive-level decision support, the Specialist develops a strong understanding of how strategy connects with operations, programmes, and outcomes for persons with disabilities.

Through this work, the role contributes to strengthening RC's ability to operate as a coherent, outcome-focused, and future-ready organisation, ensuring that strategic initiatives are thoughtfully planned, well-coordinated, and effectively implemented to support Good Life outcomes for persons with disabilities and their families.

Work Critical Functions

Strategy Development & Organisational Planning

  1. Support the Executive Director and senior leadership in organisational strategy development and periodic strategy reviews through research, analysis, and preparation of briefing materials.

  2. Coordinate the annual organisational planning cycle by consolidating inputs from divisions, schools, and corporate teams and translating strategic priorities into workplans, KPIs, and implementation milestones.

  3. Provide planning and facilitation support for strategy discussions, planning workshops, and leadership meetings, including preparation of materials and documentation of key outcomes.

  4. Review and synthesise plans across divisions and programmes to identify alignment gaps, interdependencies, and implementation risks.

  5. Support the tracking and reporting of strategic priorities through planning trackers, dashboards, and concise progress updates for leadership discussions.

Strategic Initiatives & Transformation Support

  1. Support the planning and coordination of cross-functional initiatives, pilots, and organisational improvement projects commissioned by the ED or Senior Management Team.

  2. Assist initiative leads in developing implementation plans, timelines, and milestones to support structured execution.

  3. Coordinate across departments to monitor progress, surface implementation challenges, and identify areas requiring leadership attention.

  4. Maintain documentation of initiative plans, progress updates, risks, and key decisions to support effective programme management.

  5. Support stakeholder engagement and internal communications to help teams understand and implement organisational initiatives.

Performance Monitoring & Strategic Insights

  1. Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and trackers to monitor organisational priorities and strategic initiatives.

  2. Collect and consolidate performance information from programmes, schools, and corporate functions to support organisation-wide reporting.

  3. Prepare concise progress summaries, briefing notes, and insights to support leadership discussions and decision-making.

  4. Identify emerging patterns, risks, or opportunities across initiatives to support timely course correction.

  5. Support post-implementation reviews and learning discussions to capture insights and strengthen organisational improvement.

Governance & Leadership Support

  1. Support the preparation of strategy-related papers, planning updates, and performance reports for the Board and relevant Board Committees.

  2. Ensure planning and reporting processes align with RC's governance frameworks and public accountability requirements.

  3. Maintain documentation of strategy discussions, planning processes, and key organisational decisions.

  4. Coordinate inputs from divisions and teams for leadership and Board updates related to strategic priorities.

  5. Track follow-up actions arising from leadership and Board discussions to support organisational follow-through.

Organisational Planning Capability & Learning

  1. Develop and maintain planning templates, tools, and guidance to support consistent organisational planning practices.

  2. Support teams in translating strategic priorities into clear goals, outcomes, and implementation plans.

  3. Contribute to strengthening organisational understanding of outcomes measurement aligned with RC's Good Life Framework.

  4. Document lessons from initiatives, pilots, and organisational projects to support organisational learning.

  5. Promote structured planning, reflection, and continuous improvement across teams.

Job Holder Requirements

  • A recognised good Bachelor's degree in disciplines such as Education, Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, Public Administration or related fields.

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in roles involving strategy support, planning, research, programme development, organisational improvement, or project coordination.

  • Candidates who combine direct practice experience (e.g. education, therapy, social work, or programme delivery) with involvement in service improvement, programme development, evaluation, or organisational initiatives will have added advantage.
