Job Overview
Our client, an established company within the Marine & Offshore industry, is looking for an experienced Spare Parts Sales Engineer / Manager to drive the sales and business development of marine spare parts and related technical products.
The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge with commercial and sales capabilities, working closely with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, vessel operators and marine service companies to understand their requirements and provide suitable spare parts and technical solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a marine professional with experience in spare parts sales, marine equipment, procurement, after-sales or technical services who is looking to take on a commercially focused role.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and grow sales of marine spare parts, components and related equipment.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards and marine service companies.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts while identifying opportunities for repeat and additional business.
- Conduct regular customer visits and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers.
- Develop new accounts through market research, networking, referrals and industry contacts.
- Prepare and deliver quotations, commercial proposals and technical recommendations.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms and commercial conditions with customers and suppliers.
- Follow up on quotations and convert opportunities into confirmed orders.
- Achieve agreed sales and business development targets.
Technical & Spare Parts Support
- Understand customer requirements and identify the correct spare parts based on equipment specifications, drawings, manuals and part numbers.
- Provide technical assistance and product recommendations to customers.
- Review RFQs, enquiries, specifications and vessel requirements and prepare accurate quotations.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to source suitable parts and obtain competitive pricing.
- Support customers in identifying alternative or equivalent spare parts where applicable.
- Liaise with technical teams, vessel engineers, superintendents and procurement personnel to understand equipment requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marine equipment, components and spare parts.
Order & Account Management
- Manage the sales process from initial enquiry through quotation, order confirmation, delivery and after-sales follow-up.
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of spare parts.
- Monitor order status and proactively update customers on delivery schedules.
- Resolve customer issues relating to pricing, availability, specifications and delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of customer enquiries, quotations, sales activities and orders.
- Monitor sales performance, margins and customer profitability.
Market Development
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing and customer requirements.
- Identify new product opportunities and potential suppliers.
- Attend marine exhibitions, conferences and industry networking events.
- Build strong relationships across the maritime supply chain.
- Develop sales strategies to expand the company's presence within the marine spare parts market.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in marine spare parts sales, marine equipment sales, technical sales, after-sales or a related field.
- Strong understanding of marine machinery, equipment and spare parts.
- Experience dealing with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, vessel operators or marine service companies.
- Proven experience handling RFQs, quotations, negotiations and customer accounts.
- Good commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop sales opportunities.
- Strong technical understanding and ability to interpret equipment specifications, drawings and part numbers.
- Good communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Willingness to travel for customer visits and business development activities when required.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
