We're Hiring: Sous Chef, Jade Phoenix
Are you passionate about culinary excellence and leading kitchen teams to success We're looking for a Sous Chef who thrives in a dynamic kitchen environment, loves to innovate with flavours, and takes pride in plating perfection.
You will support the daily operations of our Chinese fine-dining kitchen and play a key role in delivering memorable dining experiences to our members and guests. This role is ideal for a hands-on kitchen leader who values consistency, teamwork, and respect for culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Sous Chef, Assistant Chef de Cuisine, and Chinese Master Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth preparation and service.
- Supervise assigned kitchen sections during service, ensuring consistency in quality, taste, presentation, and speed of execution.
- Prepare and cook assigned Chinese cuisine dishes according to established recipes, techniques, and plating standards.
- Guide, train, and support junior chefs and kitchen crew in food preparation methods, cooking techniques, and kitchen discipline.
- Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, health, safety, and operational SOPs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist with menu preparation, daily specials, and service coordination to support smooth kitchen operations.
- Support inventory control, proper food handling, portion control, and wastage minimisation to maintain cost efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and discipline across workstations, equipment, and storage areas at all times.
- Ensure kitchen equipment, processing areas, and utensils are properly used, cleaned, and sanitised, and report any faulty equipment promptly.
- Follow up on changes in recipes, work methods, menus, and promotional activities as directed by senior culinary leadership.
- Support other operational duties as assigned by the HOD or Management.
Requirements
- Minimum GCE O Level qualification
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in Chinese cuisine
- Strong creativity with excellent food presentation skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- A strong team player with a collaborative attitude
