We are looking for a Sous Chef (First Chopper) to join our team!

Responsibilities

  • Perform highvolume chopping, slicing, dicing, and cutting of meats, poultry, seafood, and vegetables.
  • Ensure all food items are prepared according to the required size, portion, and quality standards.
  • Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation of workstations, knives, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper handling, thawing, storing, and rotating of ingredients according to food safety requirements.
  • Support mise en place preparation for various kitchen sections (banquet, allday dining, specialty kitchens).
  • Assist chefs with basic cooking preparation tasks when required.
  • Ensure all ingredients processed are labelled, dated, and stored correctly.
  • Minimize wastage through efficient cutting techniques and proper utilisation of raw materials.
  • Report any equipment malfunction or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
  • Follow all hotel and HACCP guidelines consistently.
  • Collaborate with culinary colleagues to meet operational demands during peak periods.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chef or Culinary Management.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in a similar food preparation or kitchen support role, preferably in a hotel or highvolume kitchen.
  • Strong knife skills with the ability to chop and prepare ingredients quickly and consistently.
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and proper ingredient handling.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Physically fit to handle standing tasks and repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Positive attitude, good teamwork, and willingness to support different kitchen sections.
