Sous Chef - Proud Potato Peeler
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and hands-on Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in driving kitchen excellence at Proud Potato Peeler. This role is critical in ensuring consistent food quality, smooth kitchen operations, and strong team performance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and workflow
- Lead, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high performance standards
- Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation
- Oversee food preparation and plating to meet brand expectations
- Monitor inventory levels, control food costs, and minimise wastage
- Support menu planning, recipe development, and cost control
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to build a strong team culture
- Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations (e.g. SFA standards)
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a Sous Chef or supervisory kitchen role
- Strong knowledge of Western cuisine and modern plating techniques
- Experience in inventory management, food costing, and kitchen operations
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude with strong communication and leadership skills
- Required to work split shift and able to work on weekend and public holidays.
