The Job
The Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support clinical diagnosis and patient management. The role ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Perform a range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and other specialised scans where required
- Ensure proper patient identification and obtain relevant clinical history prior to examinations
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by Radiologists
- Assist in ultrasound-guided procedures where required
- Monitor patient condition during procedures and respond appropriately
Patient Care
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and address concerns
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with medical standards
Equipment & Quality Control
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment in accordance with established protocols
- Perform routine quality assurance checks and report any equipment issues
- Ensure proper handling and care of imaging equipment
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all examinations
- Maintain proper records in the imaging centre information system
- Prepare preliminary observations where required for clinical review
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements (e.g. MOH guidelines, clinic SOPs)
- Maintain infection control standards and workplace safety practices
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography, Medical Sonography, or equivalent
- Relevant certification/accreditation in sonography (e.g. recognised by local regulatory bodies)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in obstetrics & gynaecology, general imaging, or specialised areas preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare systems and clinical workflows in Singapore
