Software Engineer (Mid-Level) Contact Data & Government Digital Services (1 year contract)

About the Role

Our client is a leading public-sector technology organisation dedicated to building digital infrastructure that meaningfully improves the daily lives of citizens. This role sits within a team that owns a centralised contact management platform, enabling large-scale government-to-citizen communications through robust data pipelines, segmentation, and deduplication capabilities. As a Mid-Level Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and delivering high-quality, citizen-centric software products across a suite of digital services. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications, writing clean, efficient, and well-structured code that meets both user and system requirements
  
• Build and maintain robust contact data pipelines, including data ingestion, deduplication logic, and segmentation workflows capable of operating at scale
  
• Integrate the contact management platform with downstream communication channels (e.g. email, SMS) used across various government agencies
  
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality, user-centric digital products
  
• Own quality end-to-end by implementing automated testing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ensuring software reliability and stability in the absence of a dedicated QA function
  
• Participate actively in code reviews, sharing knowledge and upholding coding standards across the team
  
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation aligned with architectural guidelines and best practices
  
• Act as a technical lead when required, driving architectural decisions and ensuring alignment with both technical best practices and business objectives
  

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant software development experience, with a strong foundation in full-stack web development (e.g. React, Node.js, PostgreSQL)
  
• Solid grounding in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles and patterns a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred
  
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and a quality-first engineering mindset
  
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, with hands-on experience in AWS services(is a bonus)
  
• Experience with data lakes, large-scale data processing, or record deduplication techniques (is a bonus)
  
• Background in CRM systems, contact management platforms, or customer data platforms experience with Kotlin for legacy codebase support (is a bonus)
